The L519 Bristlenose Pleco, known scientifically as Ancistrus sp. L519, is a small, freshwater catfish origin in South America, that has gained popularity among aquarium enthusiasts due to its distinctive honeycomb pattern of golden-yellow spots on a dark background. This peaceful bottom-dweller is an excellent addition to well-maintained planted aquariums. They are primarily nocturnal and appreciate plenty of hiding spots such as caves, driftwood, and rock formations. They’re also excellent algae eaters and will help keep your aquarium clean.
TANK SET UP: A smooth substrate to prevent injury. Providing plenty of hiding places and tanks with driftwood is important for their comfort and behavior.
TANK MATE: Neon tetra, Ember tetra, Harlequin Rasbora, occupy the middle and upper water columns. Pepper Cory ensure enough substrate space for both species. Apistogramma are suitable since they share the same natural habitat and water preferences. Pearl or Sparkling Gourami are peaceful additions that add activity to the top of the tank. Guppies, mollies and Platies are generally safe and active community members.
MAINTENANCE: Regular water changes of 10-20% a week help maintain water quality.
FILTRATION: Good filtration is necessary, and they enjoy moderate flow.
