Male Endler’s Neon Tuxedo guppies are small, active, and intensely colourful livebearers. Most sold as “Endlers Neon Tux” are Poecilia wingei selectively bred for a metallic neon (often blue-green) front half that contrasts with a dark black “tuxedo” rear body and fins.
Males stay tiny, are far more colourful than females, and make excellent all-male display groups because they constantly show off without producing fry. Endlers are easy to keep (hardier than many fancy guppies) and swim in the mid-to-upper water column. Having a lid is highly recommended—they jump.
TANK SET UP: A larger tank is better for stability and swimming space. Decorate with dense planting (Java moss, floating plants, Anubias, stem plants) plus open swimming areas. They graze biofilm and appreciate cover. Use sand or fine gravel for substrate.
They prefer stable, slightly hard, alkaline water and are adaptable once the tank is cycled.
TANK MATE: Neon tetras, ember tetras, small rasboras, pygmy or dwarf corydoras, cherry shrimp (with dense cover), nerite snails.
AVOID: Aggressive fish, large fish, fin-nippers, and common guppies if you want to avoid hybridisation.
FILTRATION: Gentle flow is important. A sponge filter is ideal.
MAINTENANCE:
• Weekly 20–30% water changes.
• Keep parameters stable — sudden swings stress them more than absolute values.
• Monitor for common issues (ich, fin rot) which usually appear when water quality drops.
FEEDING: Omnivores with small mouths.
• Staple: High-quality micro pellets or crushed guppy/tropical flakes.
• Supplements (2–3 times weekly): Frozen or live baby brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms, or microworms.
• Greens: Spirulina flakes or occasional blanched spinach/zucchini.
• Feed small amounts 1–2 times daily
A varied diet keeps colours intense.
